Presenting my first but certainly not last Easter stitch!
The pattern is fine, I had the SAL version, which was in 4 separate pieces. That part was mildly annoying, when I was working across different sections. The illustration is incredibly cute; bunnies busy with business and pleasure. Dad enjoying a cuppa on the top floor, Mom with a boy and girl painting eggs, the guy on the ladder, the 2 kids in the garden, and bunny in the window. There are tons of flowers, sweet little chicks and a mama hen, a friendly face in the sun, seasonal pennants.... seriously this design has so many awesome details. And everything is backstitched! My one quibble is the "messy" backstitch; I added tons of fractional stitches as I went along to make the backstitch neater. This was challenging in a few places, like the basket of Easter eggs, but it was worth it.
I purchased this opalescent Belfast in subtly blended spring rainbow colors from Just Add Needles (via FB), she suggested it for the chart and it's my first piece of Seraphim fabric. I only used half of the fat quarter, so there's a leftover fat 1/8 for another small-medium Easter chart (TBD). The sparkle is lovely for this design, I believe. Nothing really fancy is required, just a bunch of DMC, 18 colors, and you need 2 skeins of a few.
My favorite part of this design is probably the top floor of the house, with the kettle on the green stove, comfy chair, cuckoo clock, bookshelf, sweet little chicks. I do enjoy a hot cup of tea myself, this room would be perfect for me.
The garden is super lush with tall grass and many flowers, it would have an amazing aroma. How adorable are those yellow overalls? The shape of the house is like an egg and so is the front door. A perfect design for Easter!
This is one of my first designs by Tiny Modernist (I've stitched a few of her JCS ornaments too), and I quite like the aesthetic, I'll probably stitch more in the future. And with that, I was down to 15 wips, 7 of good size, and 8 ornaments. 7 big pieces is a little low in my estimation, so I made a few new starts!
Awe, so darn cute! You can't go wrong with Tiny Modernist, they have some really cute ones. Will you frame it in time for Easter?
