As of the beginning of August, I want to share the status of Summer Fairy. Previous (fabric color is true in this one, second pic is off):
All the regular cross stitching is complete, with metallics, backstitching, and beads still to be done. I truly love the colors in this one, how she's inhaling the scent of the flower, her delicate face, everything! I can't wait to finish, and as I believe all the materials are stashed, that should be within a week or two.
Now, for the major WIP... I'm having a baby! Due in February. First trimester was a bit rough, with lots of fatigue and nausea, but I'm starting to feel better. Baby is measuring just right for age, and entertains us during ultrasounds with lots of motion. I definitely have a small bump and am starting to think about maternity clothes. I'm not keen on spending much, so I'm going to try to thrift and/or diy for the most part. In particular, I don't want to buy a maternity coat, so I'm planning to sew a cape (McCall's 6446 View B). I am planning to use wool and add a lining because I don't really see the point in an unlined coat. I think this thing is voluminous enough to fit over preggo belly without any alterations. I also plan to try to hacking off pants or skirts and attaching stretchy belly band. Lastly, some stretch shirts with longer (and ruched at side seam) front panel. One of my ideas is sewing a lot of basic black and using accessories (scarves/shawls) to dress it up.
Sewing maternity wardrobe will be useful, while making stuff for the baby will be fun, too. The first planned project is the Tree of Life baby Blanket, I have some Knitpicks Comfy in light green on order for this, and I plan to underline it with a soft flannel. The plan for the nursery is light green as a base color. Once we learn the sex, I plan to do a baby quilt, knit a few garments and hats, sew some clothes, bibs, burp cloths, etc. Tiny stuff = fast projects, right?
Congrats!
