This vest has actually been finished for a few weeks now, and I've worn it several times. I really like it.
Pattern: Veste Everest from Interweave Knits, by Veronik Avery
Yarn: Queensland Collection Kathmandu aran, about 6 skeins, bought really cheap on closeout from yarn.com
Size: 34", which means about an inch of negative ease on me. The fabric is quite stretchy and rather thick, I believe some negative ease is a good thing for this pattern.
Mods: I did an extra repeat of the cable pattern before the armhole shaping. It's still a bit short but that doesn't matter because I'll always wear a shirt beneath it.
Time to knit: About 3 weeks, on and off
This sweater inspired me to knit more Veronik Avery patterns- my parents gave me her book, Knitting Classic Style, for Christmas, and I love the military cardigan- I will definitely knit that at some point. I also want to make more vests! I think they are very practical for winter in the mid-atlantic region. One more photo, brighter to see the yummy cable detailing. The color is more true in the first photo however- very dark brown.
