My goal for the 2nd quarter is to work through my stashed framing materials. I started with some nautical pieces... all of these are destined for bathroom decor. The mermaid is among others in my master bath while the two smalls are in a hall bath.
Mediterranean Mermaid, by Mirabilia, was stitched on 30 ct blue jeans linen by Weeks Dye Works; I converted the hair.
The frame has a warm bronze finish with a subtle sheen and nautical rope detail. I opted not to mat her as I generally don't mat my Mirabilia's- they are so big already.
Voyage and Sea & Beacon at Daybreak are both Dimensions Gold Petite Kits, stitched on Aida.
The frame is slender gold with beading and subtle rope detail. I opted to triple mat since these pieces are so small. The inner mat is gold foil, topped with white, and finally cobalt.
All the frames shown above were purchased at Frame Masters in Merrifield, Fairfax, VA. They cut the glass too. I mounted the needlework, cut the mats, and "assembled" the pieces. This is a great local shop with reasonable prices. I also appreciate the service, no attitude for the DIY-er, which is more than we can say for some of the big box craft stores.
